PARTNERSHIPS & ASSOCIATIONS
Established in 1989 and registered as a non-profit organization (NPO), Aware.org aims to develop a culture of responsible alcohol usage by accepting a responsibility to curb the problems and ills which have been caused by alcohol abuse.
The problems associated with alcohol abuse are a major concern to the government as well as to the alcohol industry. The Association for Alcohol Responsibility and Education (AWARE) is the alcohol industry’s response to concerns regarding the problems that have been caused by alcohol misuse and abuse.
Aware.org aims to develop a culture of responsible alcohol usage by accepting a responsibility to curb the problems and ills which have been caused by alcohol abuse.
We realize the importance of promoting Responsible Alcohol Usage for purposes of developing harmonious and safe sustainable social settings among South African communities.
Our members include leading manufacturers of alcoholic beverages, such as SAB, Distell, Diageo, KWV, DGB and many others.
On the ground, assisting with our day to day reach within communities are the likes of The Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR), The Young Free and Educated (YFE) initiative, the International Alliance for Responsible drinking (IARD), Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), Themba interactive and VinPro.
For a culture of responsible drinking and alcohol awareness education to be promoted and grown in South Africa, it is imperative that leading alcohol manufacturers and distributors get actively involved in initiatives geared towards this, and actively participate in intervention processes.
Aware.org holds all its partners and associates in high regard.
Strategic partnerships are the life blood of our harm-reduction establishment.
Many distributors and retail chains such as Tops at Spar, Massmart and Diamond Liquors have joined Aware.org as associate members. Since its formation, Aware.org has had a growing associate membership base and continually receives proposals from parties who are interested.
Aware.org is committed to continuing the development, implementation and support of a broad array of targeted intervention programs to achieve sustainable reductions in irresponsible consumption.
All of our interventions are conducted in partnership with stakeholders who also share a vision of promoting responsible drinking education in South Africa.
