The Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR) was founded as a Non-Profit Organization in 1997. FARR focusses on research pertaining to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and related issues. Research findings are published in peer reviewed national and international journals. On all FARR’s project sites in South Africa the NPO offers extensive awareness and prevention programmes to facilitate FASD prevention, promote alcohol harm reduction and to support community development. The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) was established in 1968 as a statutory research council mandated to undertake and promote research in the human and social sciences. Its mandate and objectives are outlined in the Human Sciences Research Council Act, Act No. 17 of 2008. It recognised as a juristic person (legal entity), and is governed by a Board whose members are selected on basis of relevant expertise and experience, and appointed in accordance with the requirements of Act 17 of 2008, by the Minister of Science and Technology

Since its inception in 2005, Teenactiv’s belief has been that the provision of additional CAPS-aligned Life Orientation teacher support material would go a long way in changing attitudes, improving teaching and ultimately enhancing the skills set of learners leaving school.
