– the Association for Alcohol Responsibility and Education – is funded by the South African alcohol Industry and its core mandate is to promote responsible drinking and reduce the harmful use of alcohol. supports an “whole of society” approach that combines the efforts of different role-players to change individual behaviour and influence our country’s drinking culture and environment.

Our programmes are informed by research and data with a focus on  forms of alcohol use that cause serious harm – for example, under-age drinking and heavy episodic drinking. We work with implementing partners that have a track record in social development programmes and behaviour change interventions. recognises that South Africa’s harm-reduction efforts need to be scaled up in the interests of the health, wellbeing and safety of individuals, communities and our nation as a whole. We are keen to play our part in this effort.
